Training & Internship
Background
Since its inception in 1997, Gender and Development for Cambodia (GAD/C) has been conduction gender training. In October 2000, a separate programme unit on training called Training and Internship Programme was formed in GAD/C. Since its establishment, the training and internship programme has been providing gender training to government institutions, NGOs, private sector organizations, youth associations, and other civil societies. The general objective of gender training are to raise gender sensitivity of the participants and to enable them to incorporate gender in laws, policies, plans, projects, programmes and activities. The training and internship programme demonstrates how gender equity can be incorporated into each stage of the programme cycle as well as provides assistance to organizations in formulation of their gender policy.
General Goals
The goals of the training and internship programme are to enable:
- Elected bodies, Ministries, NGOs and national and local institutions to adopt and implement gender sensitive laws, policies, plans and programmes.
- Increase mutual recognition of and respect for the rights and contributions of men and women in the family, community and nation.
Specific Objectives
Specific objectives of the training and internship programme are to:
- Provide basic gender training to youth associations, NGOs, government institutions and other stakeholders to enable them to disseminate gender perspectives among their target groups correctly and raise awareness on gender equality.
- Provide specific and targeted advanced gender training, and coaching to policy planners and implementers in government institutions, local administrations, NGOs and other stakeholders to enable them to develop gender sensitive law, policy, plan and programme and implement these effectively.
