Background
Gender and Development for Cambodia (GAD/C) is an NGO that promotes gender equity as a fundamental human right and as the necessary basis for social, economic, and political development. Gender equity means that both boys and girls and men and women have equal opportunities and equal access to education, employment, and services in order that women can participate fully as equal citizens.
Vission Statement
A Cambodian society where all people are equally empowered to use their potential to participate in national development with full dignity and justice, thereby creating a fair, just and stable living environment.
Mission Statement
GAD/C's mission is to promote gender equality by:
Promoting mutual respect between men and women enabling policy makers and institutions to develop and carry out plans and programmes that address gender inequalities. Strengthening support structures at the national and local levels, in order to eliminate gender inequalities.
Goals
The goals of Gender and Development for Cambodia are that:
- There are gender sensitive laws, policies, plans, and decision-making institutions in place.
- Elected bodies, Ministries, NGOs and national and local institutions are able to implement gender sensitive laws, policies, plans and programmes.
- There are effective advocacy networks of civil society, youth, and State institutions that promote gender equity.
- There is increased mutual recognition of and respect for the rights and contributions of men and women in the family, community and nation.
